Really can't blame the South African bowlers, they were a little erratic but bowled brilliantly. However, they just couldn't break the stand which mattered and the wicket easing out also did not help.

Chasing a small but tricky total on a tricky wicket, Australia were 7 down with around 100 needed. Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen and Lungi Ngidi were brilliant with the new ball as they ran through the top order. However, as the ball got old, the wicket got easier to bat and Ashton Agar and Marnus Labuschagne batted beautifully to take them over the line.

The South African batters have struggled to adapt to the pace of the surface and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Bavuma fought a lone battle by scoring a ton to remember but failed to get any support. Had he did, they could have well scored over 250. They though still have something to bowl at on a wicket which seems tough. They'll need wickets though. Australia on the other hand, will back themselves to chase it down. Well, judging by the form the Aussies are in, they will be the happier of the two sides by some margin. Yes, they probably left the hosts off the hook a little but overall, it is still a brilliant performance. Stoinis, Abbott, and Hazlewood were excellent with the new ball. They hardly gave anything away and got wickets too. Green and the spinners were a tad expensive but overall, Australia will be very pleased with their effort.

So, it was a special performance from the South African skipper. He stayed unbeaten for 114 runs. Probably one of his best but the question is, will it be enough? He single-handedly made his side reach to a total of 222 runs and gave their bowlers something to fight for. The other batters kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Marco Jansen played a good cameo in the middle. Six of the South African batters were dismissed for single digits. They will be upset with their performance and will be hoping for their bowlers to defend this total.

The visitors excelled in the shortest format of the game. winning the T20I series 3-0. They were quite dominant in those three games and were clearly the better side. The focus now though shifts to the longer format and with the big names returning for the hosts, we expect them to put up a better show than they did in the shortest format. The Australians too have the likes of David Warner and Cameron Green coming back into the squad. Mitchell Marsh however, will continue the lead to the side.
