Dambulla Sixers vs Galle Marvels Match 12 Match Commentary: Lanka Premier League, 2024

11.19pm  Mohammad Nabi, the skipper of Dambulla Sixers says that it was a tough game as they had a low total. Shares that the wicket was playing well but they discussed picking wickets in the powerplay. Adds that the ball was swinging and that was the reason behind giving three overs each to the strike bowlers. Credits Isuru Udana, who played well but they stuck to their plans and did well in the end.

11.18pm  The losing skipper of Galle Marvels, Niroshan Dickwella is up for a quick chat and he says they never thought they were going to lose this as the wicket was good to bat on.  Adds they they failed as they kept losing wickets regularly. Credits the Dambulla bowlers for bowling well. Mentions that they have been playing good and positive cricket but a bad start in the Powerplay cost them the game but nothing to worry about as such things happen in long tournaments.

11.16pm  Chamindu Wickramasinghe is the Player of the Match for his all-round performance. He says that the team was under pressure when he went to bat. Adds that he planned to play out 20 overs. Shares that he executed his plan with the ball too and it worked well for him.

11.12pm  Earlier in the day, the Dambulla Sixers batted first and made a competitive score of 160 for 8 in their 20 overs on the back of a fine knock of unbeaten 56 off 34 from Chamindu Wickramasinghe while the rest of the batters got starts but failed to carry on. For the Galle Marvels, Kavindu Nadeeshan and Isuru Udana snapped five wickets between them for just 32 runs in their combined 7 overs. Galle Marvels did well with the ball but struggled with the bat and succumbed to their second loss of the season.

11.08pm  After finishing their innings on a high with the bat, Dambulla Sixers came roaring in with the ball and picked up four wickets in the powerplay to put the Marvels on the backfoot. The Sixers kept picking wickets at regular intervals and were always ahead in the game.  Nuwan Thushara was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 37 in his spell while Dushan Hemantha also snapped three in his kitty. Chamindu Wickramasinghe snapped two wickets at the backend while Nuwan Pradeep and Dilshan Madushanka chipped in with one apiece. Dambulla Sixers have now got back-to-back wins and are on a roll in the competition.

11.07pm  A brilliant all-round performance from the Dambulla Sixers gets them their second win of the season. Chasing 161 for the win, the Galle Marvels were in all sorts of trouble at  62 for 8 and were on the verge of losing big but Isuru Udana stood up and smacked 72 off just 38 balls to keep his side in the chase. He stuck five maximums in his outstanding knock but fell in the final over and could not get his team past the finish line. Alex Hales with 17 off 20 was the next best scorer as the Marvels struggled with the bat. Galle Marvels have lost their second game of the season and have slipped to number two in the table.

OUT! CAUGHT! All over for the Galle Marvels! Short of a length delivery, on the hip. Maheesh Theekshana gets across and miscues the pull toward the short fine leg. Reeza Hendricks takes the catch and Dambulla Sixers win by 25 runs.

10.59pm  Zahoor Khan is the last batter for the Marvels.

OUT! CAUGHT! Chamindu Wickramasinghe gets the huge wicket of Isuru Udana and that will be the match for Galle Marvels. This was bowled full, from round the wicket, and outside off. Isuru Udana lifts it hard but gets it off the toe end and finds Mohammad Nabi at the long off boundary. Nabi makes no mistake and the ninth wicket falls.
