Tamil Thalaivas v Bengaluru Bulls
10th October, Monday, 21:00 IST
Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai, India
The Thalaivas got their campaign off to a blistering start against the Patna Pirates in the opening fixture of the tournament and although they came up short against UP Yoddha, despite a resurgence in the second half, they will fancy their chances against the Rohit Kumar-led Bengaluru Bulls in their fourth straight game of the season.
The Bulls, on the other hand, will be happy to have in their ranks good quality raiders through skipper Rohit Kumar, Kashiling Adake and Pawan Sehrawat but a slightly-inexperienced defence unit could be put to test against the rampaging Thalaivas raiders.
Playing their first game of the season, the Bulls will certainly look to start off on the right foot while the Thalaivas, wounded from their defeats will hope to put up a strong show in front of their home crowd.
Form Guide (most recent to oldest, including last season):
Tamil Thalaivas: L W W L W (good form)
Bengaluru Bulls: D W W W W (excellent form)
Head to Head:
Won by Tamil Thalaivas: 1
Won by Bengaluru Bulls: 2
Probable Starting XI:
Team: Ajay Thakur (Captain), Athul MS, Surjeet Singh, Manjeet Chhillar, Amit Hooda, D Gopu, Darshan J.
Team: Rohit Kumar (Captain), Kashiling Adake, Pawan Kumar Sehrawat, Ashish Kumar, Mahender Singh, Raju Lal Choudhary, Jasmer Singh Gulia.
My dream XI
One of the best right corner defenders in the game, Amit Hooda has enjoyed a top run in this season and can be expected to fire against Bengaluru. Mahender Singh was the find of the season from the previous edition and his blocks and dashes can be vital against the Thalaivas and his alliance alongside Raju Lal Choudhary, who will add a wealth of experience to the squad will be interesting to watch.
Manjeet Chhillar certainly hasn’t been in the greatest of touch off-late but that does not take away anything from the fact that he is one of the best in the business and against his ex-team, Manjeet could be fuelled to put in a top show.
Ajay Thakur easily makes the team with the form he is in, currently leading the charts while Kashiling Adake, who has been drafted into the Bulls setup could cause quite a few problems for the Thalaivas defence. Athul MS, who was on fire against the Yoddha can be expected to make merry against the Bulls defence.
Captain and vice-captain: Ajay Thakur and Kashiling Adake.
Alternative: Athul MS and Mahender Singh.
Player to watch out for: Mahender Singh
The youngster was in some pristine touch in the last season and his fearless defending could be a major defining factor against the likes of Ajay Thakur, Surjeet Singh etc. when the Bulls lock horns with the Thalaivas in the former’s opening game.
