After a successful first season, Legends League Cricket (LLC) is all set for another edition. The second season of the LLC will yet again feature recently retired international cricketers competing in the tournament. Some of the high-profile names taking part in the league are Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Chris Gayle and Muttiah Muralitharan.
As a part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations, a special exhibition match will be hosted at the Eden Gardens on the 16th of September. The game will see Virender Sehwag-led India Maharajas taking on Jacques Kallis-led World Giants.
Let us now have a look at a few of the frequently asked questions regarding the league and their answers.
What is the format?
Just like the first edition, every match of the Legends League Cricket season 2 will be played in the T20 format. However, there is a drastic change in the overall structure of the tournament.
This season will have four teams competing for the glorious trophy, unlike the inaugural edition where just three teams took part. Notably, none of the teams has carried forward from the first to the second season. While LLC earlier had three teams namely India Maharajas, World Giants and Asia Lions, the competition will now feature four teams – all owned by private entities.
Teams
As mentioned above, all four teams competing in the tournament are owned by private entities. The following teams will be seen in action from the 17th of September.
India Capitals
Gujarat Giants
Bhilwara Kings
Manipal Tigers
