Kerala Blasters FC v Jamshedpur FC | Fantasy Preview, Probable XI and Players to watch out for

Match: Kerala Blasters FC v Jamshedpur FC

Venue: Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi

Date: December 4, 2018

Time: 19:30 IST

Kerala Blasters will look to notch up their first win at home as they host Jamshedpur FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Tuesday.

The Blasters were on a three game losing streak—two of which came at home—before they drew against Chennaiyin FC in the last game. So, coach David James and his men are desperate for a win in this match.

Jamshedpur FC, on the other hand, are in a comfortable position with 15 points in 10 games. But they will look to improve their away record as they are yet to win away from home. All their three victories have come at home. Moreover, they have registered six draws this season and only one defeat. So, they look like the side to beat in this match despite the fact that the crowd will be against them.

Kerala Blasters FC (4-2-3-1): Dheeraj; Lalruatthara, Jhingan, Lakic-Pesic, Kali; Krmarevic, Samad; Vineeth, Keziron, Narzary, Poplatnik

Jamshedpur FC (4-2-3-1): Subrata; Gurung, Pratik, Tiri, Jairu; Memo, Arques; Farukh, Calvo, Soosairaj; Cahill

The Blasters have struggled to find the back of the net this season, otherwise they have been quite decent defensively. Jamshedpur, on the other hand, have the goal scoring potential as well as a strong defence. Both teams will find it hard to score against each other which may see the match going down as a low scoring draw. Most of the mid-fielders in both sides are equally good and skillful. Anyone can come up and score and hence it is better to pick as many of them as possible. So, a 3-4-3 formation looks most suitable.

Subrata Paul (9 Cr)- Jamshedpur

The experience he brings with himself makes Paul from Jamshedpur the preferred goal-keeping option for my side over Kerala’s Dheeraj Singh. He is like a wall in front of the goal and hardly lets anything pass through him.

Sandesh Jhingan (9 Cr) –Kerala

Tiri (8.5 Cr) – Jamshedpur

Robin Gurung (8 Cr)- Jamshedpur

Tiri and Gurung have been instrumental in Jamshedpur’s run in the tournament so far. While Tiri gains points from his power-headers in front of the goals and tackling skills, Gurung stands the chances of scoring points through assists supplied from his charges down the flanks. Jhingan, on the other hand, is the pillar of Kerala’s backline and his role will be important in this match once again.

Memo (9.5 Cr)- Jamshedpur

Mario Arques (8.5 Cr) – Jamshedpur

Carlos Calvo (8.5 Cr)- Jamshedpur

Halicharan Narzary (8.5 Cr) – Kerala

Three ‘Steel City’ mid-fielders in Memo, Arques and Calvo and one Blasters mid-fielder in Narzary have been picked in this team. Arques and Narzary are the most dangerous of the lot but the other two are no less skillful too. The quartet has the potential to lit up any team with massive points.

Tim Cahill (10 Cr) – Jamshedpur

CK Vineeth (9.5 Cr) – Kerala

Matej Poplatnik (9.5 Cr) – Kerala

Cahill is the only forward selected from Jamshedpur whereas Vineeth and Poplatnik are the ones to make it to the team from Kerala. Cahill brings with himself loads of international experience. He finds himself in good positions from where he can take shots at the target frequently. Vineeth is more about swift action and skills. He is an expert in breaking down defences. Poplatnik, on the other hand, depends on his positioning and strength to beat defenders, almost similar to that of Cahill.

Captain: Mario Arques

Vice-Captain: Halicharan Narzary
