Preview:

Premier League surprise packages Wolves are set to welcome struggling Newcastle United to the Molineaux Stadium tonight in the league’s final Gameweek 26 fixture.

Wolves head into this match on the back of 3 consecutive wins in the Premier League. Last time out, Nuno’s men registered a very impressive 3-1 win against Everton at Goodison Park. Another win for Wolves tonight will send them 4 points clear of Watford in 8th place.

Newcastle United, on the other hand, fought valiantly but ultimately came unstuck against Tottenham Hotspur by a 1-0 scoreline last Saturday. However, the week before that, the Magpies shocked the world by defeating Manchester City 2-1 at St James’ Park. Rafa Benitez will be hoping for a similar giant-killing act as his side take on an in-form Wolves side tonight.

Predicted Lineups:

Wolves: Patricio; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Doherty, Moutinho, Dendoncker, Neves, Jonny; Jimenez, Jota.

Newcastle: Dubravka; Lejeune, Lascelles, Schar; Yedlin, Longstaff, Diame, Ritchie; Perez, Almiron, Rondon.

Combined XI for the game:

Captain & Vice-Captain Options:

  1. Raul Jimenez
  2. Diogo Jota
  3. Matt Doherty
  4. Salomon Rondon
  5. Joao Moutinho
  6. Miguel Almiron

Strategic Pointers:

  • Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo may stick to the same starting XI that defeated Everton 3-1 last Saturday.
  • Wolves wing-backs, Doherty and Jonny Otto, operate in very attacking areas and can be excellent options for your side.
  • Newcastle United are defensively sturdy and do not concede many goals. Hence, this may be a low scoring match.
  • Newcastle’s main goal scoring threat will come from corners and indirect free-kicks. Players such as Rondon, Schar and Lascelles will be chief threats for the Wolves backline.
  • Newcastle’s new signing Miguel Almiron will make his debut tonight and may impact the match in some capacity.
  • Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota have formed a great partnership up front for Wolves and are virtual must-haves for this contest.
