Mens Match 5 : New Zealand vs Belgium : 3P: Prediction,Performance,Preview

Time for Red Lions to roar again through Goals !!

New Zealand (World Ranked  #8) host world champions Belgium (World Ranked :1): Match 5 of FIH Pro League.

Prediction:   Belgium will win

Belgium Team Preview:

The Belgium Men have already played 2 matches in the FIH Pro League where they were shocked in their opening match by Spain where they lost in a penalty shootout. They however bounced back for a big win last weekend against the men from Argentina and look to be back to their formidable best.

Match #1

Spain 2, Belgium 2 (2-0 After Shoot Out)  (37* plennevaux maxime FG , 55* hendrickx alexander PC)
Man of the Match: Xavi Lleonart (ESP)

  • Spain were probably the better team for most of the first two periods of the match, although Belgium would certainly have broken the deadlock were it not for some top class saves from Quico Cortes, who twice denied the ever-dangerous Tom Boon while Tanguy Cosyns also blazed a shot wide of the target.
 Match #3

Argentina 2, Belgium 4 (3* boon tom FG ,44* boccard gauthier FG ,45* wegnez victor FG , 51* boon tom FG)
Player of the Match: Victor Wegnez (BEL)

After their disappointment last Saturday against Spain, he Belgians defended perfectly and proved dangerous by accelerating the game.

New Zealand Team Preview:

Match #4

Netherlands 4, New Zealand 3 (16*inglis hugo FG ,28* inglis hugo FG ,30* russell kane PC)
Player of the Match: Thierry Brinkman (NED)

  • The Vantage Black Sticks have gone down 4-3 to a Netherlands side in a highly entertaining contest. After finding themselves behind by 3-0 after one quarter the Black Sticks fought their way back into the contest and were 3-3 at half time. Unfortunately the Netherlands broke the deadlock and held on to secure the victory.
  • Hugo Inglis got the Vantage Black Sticks onto the score board at the start of the second quarter then he eliminated a number of Netherlands defenders and then flicked it past the goalkeeper to get the Black Sticks back into the contest
  • Hugo Inglis then received a fantastic cross from Kane Russell and flicked his second goal of the game past the Netherlands goalkeeper to close the gap to 3-2. With 30 seconds to go in the quarter Nick Ross drove confidently into the circle and earned the Vantage Black Sticks their first penalty corner of the match. Kane Russell drag flicked home the goal to tie the game at 3-3 before eventually loosing it
