Match overview:

The playoffs stage of the Pro Kabaddi League has arrived and the second match of the night serves up a mouth-watering clash as the Bengal Warriors take on Dabang Delhi KC at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Kochi, Kerala.

Bengal Warriors come into the fixture after a positive home leg in Kolkata which saw them win four matches and secure the second spot in Zone B standings. The Warriors looked solid all-around with the defence improving over the leg after starting out a bit shakily. Maninder Singh and Jang Kun Lee have led the raiding unit convincingly and will aim to keep the form going against Delhi as well.

Dabang Delhi KC reached the playoffs stage for the first time in six seasons of the Pro Kabaddi League. Their all-around balance has been the major reason for their ascent as an experienced defence comprising of seasoned players has been backed by a young raiding unit. Joginder Narwal, Vishal Mane and Ravinder Pahal have been a force in the Delhi defence and the trio of Meraj Sheykh, Chandran Ranjit and Naveen Kumar have emerged as one of the most consistent raiding units this season.

Dabang Delhi KC have had the upper hand on the Bengal Warriors through the season with three wins but the Warriors will be aiming to brush it aside and rough it out in the playoffs.

My dream XI

Raiders
Maninder Singh (17 Cr), Naveen Kumar (15.5 Cr) and Amit Nagar (11 Cr) form the raiding unit of the Dream XI Fantasy Squad.

Maninder Singh has been sort of the ‘lone wolf’ in the Bengal Warriors’ raiding unit emerging yet again as one of the top raiders in the league. His power and consistency on the mat has seen him dominate defences through the season. Naveen Kumar is one of the finds of the Pro Kabaddi League this season topping the raid points chart for the Dabang Delhi KC side and will be raring to hit form in the playoffs alongside Chandran Ranjit and Meraj Sheykh. Amit Nagar has been used as the third raider by the Warriors in the past couple of matches and can be a contributor in the defence as well.

Defenders
Ravinder Pahal (14.5 Cr), Surjeet Singh (15 Cr) and Baldev Singh (12 Cr) form the defensive lineup of the Dream XI Fantasy Squad.

‘The Hawk’, Ravinder Pahal has been one of the most consistent right corner defenders over the years in the Pro Kabaddi League and will be aiming to lock his famous double thigh holds on the Warriors’ raiders. Surjeet Singh recovered from his mid-season slump and was in fine form over the Kolkata leg leading the charge of the Warriors’ defence. Baldev Singh has been a handy help in the Warriors’ defence on the right corner providing good support to his teammates and chipping in with a couple of tackle points every match as well.

All-Rounders

Meraj Sheykh (15 Cr) forms the all-rounders of the Dream XI Fantasy Squad.

The Iranian all-rounder has emerged as one of the key players for Delhi courtesy his clinical nature at crucial situations on the mat. He is very resourceful in do-or-die raid situations and returns a healthy tally of raid points.

Captain and vice-captain: Maninder Singh and Meraj Sheykh

Player to watch out for: Maninder Singh

The key raider of the Bengal Warriors continued his consistent form this season over the course of the Kolkata leg of the competition. He has scored 198 raid points from 21 matches this season and will be the go-to man for the Warriors against the Dabang Delhi KC side.
