Haryana Steelers vs Puneri Paltan: Match Preview, PKL

Match Details:

Match – Haryana Steelers vs Puneri Paltan

Date –  28 November 2018, 8:00 PM IST

Venue – Balewadi Stadium, Pune

Match overview:

After a day’s break in the schedule, the Pro Kabaddi League 2018 action resumed as Puneri Paltan faced off against the Haryana Steelers in a familiar setting at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune.

Puneri Paltan have been struggling to get wins on the board after a streak of four winless games with three losses and a draw in their previous fixture against the Jaipur Pink Panthers. The absence of Nitin Tomar has affected them adversely as the raiding unit has not been able to completely fill his role. They are currently placed in a playoffs spot but it will be interesting to see if they can hold on till the end.

Haryana Steelers are in a better run of form with two wins in their past five matches. They beat the Dabang Delhi KC in their last match after a strong all-around performance. The raiders Monu Goyat and Vikas Khandola have done well in the past few matches with experienced defender Sachin Shingade also looking in good touch.

My dream XI

GB More (14 Cr), Vikas Khandola (16 Cr) and Monu Goyat (15.5 Cr) form the raiding unit of the Dream XI Fantasy Squad.

The raiding duo of the Haryana Steelers have been performing well in the past few matches, especially Vikas Khandola has been the leading scorer for the Steelers this season. Monu Goyat has not been very consistent but will hope to play a more key role for the side. GB More has gotten an extended run in the Puneri Paltan lineup since the absence of the talismanic raider Nitin Tomar. More is a smart raider and contribute for the side with his defensive skills as well.

Girish Maruti Ernak (14.5 Cr) and Sachin Shingade (14 Cr) form the defensive lineup of the Dream XI Fantasy Squad.

The Puneri Paltan captain Girish Maruti Ernak scored a High 5 in the side’s draw against the Jaipur Pink Panthers and been in a consistent run of form lately after a mid-season slump. Sachin Shingade has been a solid performer for the Haryana Steelers after getting a starting position in the side after good showings from the bench.

Monu (13.5 Cr) and Mayur Shivtarkar (12.5 Cr) form the all-rounders of the Dream XI Fantasy Squad.

Monu has been a consistent contributor to the Puneri Paltan with his ability to score in both the raiding department and the defence. He has done well as the third raider for the side and will hope to keep his form. Mayur Shivtarkar has been a handy presence in the Haryana Steelers’ lineup and did fairly well to sneak in tackle points in the defence.

Captain and vice-captain: Vikas Khandola and Girish Maruti Ernak

Alternative: Monu Goyat and Vikas Khandola

Player to watch out for: Girish Maruti Ernak

The Pune skipper, who was struggling to get into a run of form has looked in prime form over the past couple of matches picking up nine tackle points on the left corner. He will hope to keep his run going against a solid Haryana Steelers’ raiding trio.
